Course Overview

This two day course ensures that participants have the knowledge and skills to help them develop a team of high performing employees who are highly productive in their role and focussed on success.

Day One:

Understanding how to increase the 3 P's of management: Performance, Productivity and Profit.

Day Two:

Looking at current processes in place and how to streamline and make them more productive whilst also looking at areas of potential cost savings.

What you will learn:

  1. Manage performance by setting clearly aligned goals.
  2. Identify causes of poor performance and reduce attrition.
  3. How to work with employees to improve performance and productivity.
  4. Recognise and communicate success, focussing on behaviour and results.
  5. Align employees in order to increase productivity, morale and motivation.

  1. Importance of Managing Performance:

    Establishing the key elements to a managing performance approach, why this is important and the benefits it can have for a manager.

  2. Making Performance Management Work:

    Changing current perceptions to performance management and highlighting the key factors that will help make it a success for managers.

  3. Setting Goals:

    Identifying what makes goal setting work and how it underpins the entire managing performance process. Linking goal setting to record keeping to ensure effective processes.

  4. Reasons for Poor Performance:

    Highlighting the underlying factors behind poor performance and individual mindsets.

  5. Helping Poor Performers:

    Focusing on behaviour and results- translating "attitude" to observed behaviours and looking to create improvement opportunities. Activities that review specific workplace scenarios.

  6. Guiding High Performers:

    Establishing boundaries, creating opportunities, giving feedback and knowing when to praise.

  7. Managing Conflict and Discipline:

    Resolving conflict issues and embracing the opportunity disagreement can provide. Looking at the key components of discipline and following a set structure for implementation.

  8. Performance Conversations:

    A practical activity following theoretical set-up that allows participants to practice and review the skills of effective performance communication.

  9. Cost Analaysis:

    Looking at each participants area of responsibility and creating a cost benefit analysis plan.
